The licensed speech language pathology staff at Mercy Medical Center is dedicated to improving our patient’s quality of life through the evaluation and treatment of disorders involving swallowing, speech, voice, language, cognition, and memory associated with an accident, illness, or disease.  Speech language pathologists design care plans to improve patient’s ability to communicate through a variety of facilitatory and compensatory treatment techniques.  Patients with possible swallowing disorders are seen for an evaluation which may include a videofluoroscopic swallow study.  The evaluation is followed by treatments and diet modifications as needed.
